Defying the impossible
The Oyster Perpetual Rolex Deepsea in 18 ct yellow gold with a Cerachrom bezel insert in blue ceramic and an Oyster bracelet.
Ceramic Bezel and Luminescent Display
Legendary divers’ watch
The 60-minute graduated, unidirectional rotatable bezel of the Rolex Deepsea enables divers to precisely and safely monitor their dive and decompression times. The triangular ‘zero’ marker of the graduation is visible in the dark thanks to an embedded capsule containing a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting blue glow. The graduation on the bezel is coated via PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) with a thin layer of yellow gold.
The blues found in the compression ring, the dial and the Cerachrom bezel insert combine to create a subtle oceanic palette that is accentuated by the 18 ct yellow gold of the case and the Oyster bracelet.
Blue dial
For legibility underwater
The blue lacquer dial bearing the name ‘DEEPSEA’ in powdered yellow. The dial features large Chromalight hour markers and hands, filled with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow for excellent legibility in dark conditions.
The simple forms of the hour markers – triangles, circles and rectangles – and the hands, which are clearly differentiated in size and shape, are filled or coated with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting blue glow – for up to two times longer than traditional phosphorescent materials.
18 ct yellow gold
Commitment to excellence
By operating its own exclusive foundry, Rolex has the unrivalled ability to cast the highest quality 18 ct gold alloys. According to the proportion of silver, copper, platinum or palladium added, different types of 18 ct gold are obtained: yellow, pink or white.
They are made with only the purest metals and meticulously inspected in an in-house laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, before the gold is formed and shaped with the same painstaking attention to quality. Rolex's commitment to excellence begins at the source.
The Oyster bracelet
Alchemy of form and function
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology, designed to be both robust and comfortable.
It is equipped with an Oysterlock clasp, which prevents accidental opening, and an ingenious Glidelock, allowing fine adjustments of the bracelet without using any tools — and allowing it to be worn comfortably over a diving suit.
